The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Social Media Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Modifications Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. User Accounts A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated. Manual Updates Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated. Platform Context The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
